We had our own little luau this evening. On the menu…
Steak and Chicken kabobs…
(Matt worked his magic on these and they were DELICIOUS!)
Fresh Fruit Kabobs…Hawaiian Sweet Bread and Typhoon Wave Hawaiian Punch…
Pineapple Upside Down Cake…
(Sami and I made this together in the microwave!!! Ahh…thank you Tupperware!)
After dinner we made grass skirts to wear. I helped Skylar make hers. We just tied green streamers onto ribbon.
Then we made our own lei’s. Sami has been really enjoying sewing by hand lately, so this was right up her alley.
After we were dressed for our luau we tried our hand at dancing the hula.
(These are blurry, but still cute)
I made Skylar’s lei much too small for a necklace, but she enjoyed wearing it as a crown. Before we watched the movie with our cake we danced to some Elvis music. And pretended to be "model citizens" :)
We decided to have a Lilo and Stitch night because we will be having breakfast with them on our trip!
We will eat here….Disney’s Polynesian Resort
(Just a side note…I’ve always made fun of this resort. It reminds me of when the Brady Bunch went to Hawaii…)
The restaurant is called Ohana. A lot of my fellow Disney fans really like to eat here for dinner, but the menu does not appeal to us. So we are looking forward to breakfast with Lilo and Stitch…
There is also a “experience” (it isn’t really a ride per say) at Magic Kingdom called “Stitch’s Great Escape”. It isn’t something Sami would enjoy, so we skip it. Maybe one day she will want to try it…
Up next week for movie night…”Alice in Wonderland” (the “old” one)
