Disney World 2010- Day Seven

Today on the agenda…a day at Epcot! We got there a little before opening. We were the first in line for Spaceship Earth. Matt went ahead to get fastpasses for Soarin’. He actually got to see the Epcot rope drop, but he said it was rather boring. I’m glad we didn’t waste time going to see it. Then we went over to take a ride with Nemo. I really like this ride…my mom did too!

We spent a little while in Future World hitting all of Sami’s favorite spots. Then she was off to show Nana all of the countries! On our “travels” we found a few fun people…

Since Sami had already visited all the countries a few days before she wasn’t really interested in them this day. However, she was ALL about finding Marie from The Aristocats. There was a bit of drama when we got in line only to discover Marie was going “for a drink of milk” and we couldn’t meet her…but she came back 30 minutes later and we had a very happy little girl…

My mom wanted to go to Downtown Disney, so we hopped a monorail to The Polynesian then took a bus “downtown”. We did a little shopping, and got some yummy treats. I thought these apples were so cute…

After all of our shopping we headed to The Contemporary Resort for our dinner reservations at Chef Mickey’s. Oh man….YUM! They have the BEST mashed potatoes I’ve ever eaten!!! I would walk back to Disney for those…but for those who have noted my ticker…I won’t be walking when we go back in September of 2011! Ha! We had fun twirling our napkins and hanging out with Mickey and his pals…

Disney Family Movie Night- Pocahontas

I planned for us to watch Pocahontas this week so we could have a Thanksgiving theme. I always decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving, so I knew I wouldn’t have a lot of time to decorate an “elaborate” movie night.

Our dinner was simple- Thanksgiving leftovers. Matt kept threatening me that he was going to tell Sami the real story of the Pilgrims and the Indians, but he thankfully agreed with me that she is much too little.

(She wore her little Indian head band from her school feast. They earned a feather for every task they could complete. Feathers were awarded for writing their names correctly, tying shoes, knowing their phone number, counting to various denominations. Sami was a proud little Indian as she earned all of her feathers. )

For a craft we made totem poles…

Then we watched the movie! So…that was our less than thrilling movie night! See…I told you it wasn’t very exciting this week! Ha!

Up next week…..Aristocats

Disney Family Movie Night- Cars

This week for Disney Family Movie Night we were watching cars. Sami had a Nutcracker rehearsal in the afternoon, so I decorated the table before we left.

001

002

I made a road with yellow crepe paper, and scrounged up some cars to sit at the table with us. Our plates were “hub caps” on top of checkered flag placemats.003 The menu:

-Car sandwiches (sloppy joe on a hoagie with cucumber wheels)

-Mac’s Wacky Mac n Cheese

-Sally’s Sweet Slices (mandarin oranges)

-Lightening McQueen Red punch

004

Our activity was making stop light cookies for our dessert. 005

011

About half way through the movie I served dessert.

-Luigi’s pile of tires

008

-Filmore’s Motor Oil Sundae’s

012

Poor Skylar has a nasty cold, so after she devoured her “Sally’s Sweet Slices” she went to bed. So…once again…no movie for her, but it made eating ice cream much easier with her fast asleep.

Next week’s Disney Family Movie Night: Pocahontas

Disney World 2010-Day Six

We finally got up and on a bus early enough to see an opening show and rope drop at Magic Kingdom! I was SO excited because I had never experienced it before!

Skylar watching the magic unfold…

We ventured over to Adventureland…Sami and I walked through the Swiss Family Robinson tree house. She thought it was neat, but had no clue what it was about. It is on the list for Disney Family Movie Night for sure!

Next we all got on Aladdin’s Magic carpets…

203204

Look who was just a few carpets ahead of us….

205

So we hopped off and got in line to get their autographs…

210

Next we rode The Pirates of the Caribbean which Sami really liked! Walt Disney was brilliant when he designed the rides to empty right into a store…but this was the first ride Sami wanted to actually look and make a purchase. She picked out a spy glass and an eye patch with a pirate earring.

We wandered over to Frontierland where we met…

214

We got a fastpasses for Splash Mountain…then went to The Haunted Mansion. I was surprised Sami said she wanted to go in it, but she was fine. Skylar doesn’t understand scary things yet, so she was fine too.

Then it was off to lunch at Tony’s Town Square which has a Lady and the Tramp theme…

215216

Sami slurped her spaghetti in true Lady and the Tramp fashion…they also celebrated her birthday…

217218

We hopped in line to see Tiana and Prince Navene…they spent a long time talking about recipes! (That is the key to getting more interaction with the characters than just an autograph and a photo op…ask them questions that have to do with their character…)

221223225

We took a raft over to Tom Sawyer Island…and Sami led the way as we explored…

226227229

We were all pretty hot by this point, so we stopped for popsicles. We asked Sami what she wanted to ride next…and she said Soarin’. "We explained that was at Epcot…to which she replied “so let’s go there!” So…we did! We hopped on the monorail and on to Epcot…

230

We went straight to Soarin’ where Matt and Sami walked right on! Then we went to Club Cool to try all of the different flavors of pop from around the world…

231232233234

See the hidden Mickey on my nail??? ^ ^ ^

We had a special surprise on its way to our hotel…so there was only time for one more ride. Sami wanted to do Spaceship earth again. Skylar was happy in the stroller so she and I just hung out while they rode.

235

Then the text came through the surprise was here…what is the surprise?? Nana!!! (My mom!) She sent me a message that she was on the Magical Express and heading to the hotel. So…we grabbed a bus and went to meet her. Sami had NO clue she was coming! Then I got a surprise…my mom texted me her room number…it was RIGHT next to ours! Our wonderful travel agent did SUCH a great job! On the way up to our room I told Sami we needed to stop at our neighbor’s room so we could get some extra towels for the pool. She bought it…and much to my surprise…knocked! And this was her reaction when Nana opened the door…

236

It was really a magical moment!

237

Our rooms were actually adjoining! So the girls stayed with Nana for the evening while Matt and I went to Downtown Disney for a date! He bought me some pins for my collection. Got himself a beer or two at the Irish pub…and a t-shirt from The House of Blues. We just enjoyed a quiet evening together…

Oh…and we played in the water fountains! Ha!
